AWS Cloud Adoption Readiness Tool (CART)
The AWS Cloud Adoption Readiness Tool (CART) is the first step toward cloud migration and supports businesses of all sizes. Is your organization ready for cloud migration? Through a series of questions, this assessment is made and a report is created for each critical area of your business, along with readiness recommendations. No organization should create a migration plan without first using this cloud assessment tool. You also get resources to help you better position your business for migration.
AWS Application Discovery Service
Another important step in migrating your business applications to the cloud is to take a close look at what you already have. AWS Application Discovery Service collects data from your organization’s local infrastructure to gain insight into server dependencies, hardware configurations, usage patterns and more. ADS records incoming and outgoing server traffic and collects information about the use of resources such as memory and CPUs. This data can then be fed into the AWS Migration Hub or used to calculate the total cost of ownership for migrating and operating these servers on AWS. The AWS Application Discovery Service itself is free. You pay only for the AWS resources – such as Amazon S3, Amazon Athena, or Kinesis Data Firehouse – used to store or manage your data.
AWS Migration Hub
The AWS Migration Hub provides a central dashboard to track the progress of migration to the cloud. With Migration hab, you can use any AWS and partner migration tools. The progress of all these tools can be monitored through the Migration Hub. For example, AWS Database Migration Service, AWS Server Migration Service, CloudEndure Migration and other partner migration tools can be natively connected to the AWS Migration Hub and provide automatic status updates. The Migration Hub itself is also free of charge.
AWS Server Migration Service (SMS)
The AWS Server Migration Service is a great help in simplifying the cloud migration process. AWS SMS automates the on-site migration of your VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V-/SCVMM and Azure virtual machines to the AWS cloud. This service gradually replicates your virtual machines and prepares them for use in the cloud. The service is generally available free of charge, the customer only bears the costs for storing the snapshots.
AWS Database Migration Service
For many companies, databases are the heart of their applications, which is why special care must be taken at this point. The AWS Database Migration Service helps you migrate your relational databases, data warehouses, NoSQL databases, and other types of data stores quickly, securely, and trouble-free. In addition, the AWS Schema Conversion Tool (AWS SCT) can also be used to convert between different database engines.
